Cozy Campfire Hat/Cowl

In this class, I’ll guide you through all the basics of colorwork. You’ll gain all the knowledge needed to be sporting your own fun cowl or gifting it to a lucky someone in your life. We’ll discuss color choices, color dominance, techniques for holding the two yarns, tension, floats, tacking floats. 

Skills covered: working in the round, ribbing, increasing, decreasing, reading a pattern, reading a colorwork chart, checking gauge, color dominance, techniques for holding yarn, tension, floats tacking floats, stretchy bind off technique, and blocking. Great pattern to work before taking on the cozy campfire hat, which incorporates magic loop technique.

US 6/4.0mm 16”/40cm circular needle, US 7/4.5mm 16”/40cm circular needle

Worsted weight yarn( 136yds/124.36cm of Main Color, 80yds/73.15m of Contrast Color). Suggested yarns: Malabrigo Rios, Berroco Ultra Wool. 

Tip: If you think you’d like to make a complimentary matching hat, purchase 2 different colored worsted weight yarns 210-220 yds. I recommend 2 solid colors or 1 solid color and 1 variegated yarns.


Pricing: One to one lessons are $30/hr

Small group lessons of 3-4 people $20/hr per person.
