Description:
Recommend solid or tonal yarn for the MC.
Recommend contrast solids, tonal, tweed, or a variegated yarn to best demonstrate texture.
Cardigan is worked flat in one piece from the hem upwards to armholes.
Back and Fronts are worked flat from armholes to shoulder and joined with 3 needle bind off.
Sleeve stitches are picked up and knit in the round from shoulder to cuff, either 3/4 Length or Long Sleeve.
Collar and Button Bands worked by picking up selvedge sts.
Cardigan features Contrast and MC 2x2 ribbed hem, and body with stockinette and slip stitch pattern over complementary-color garter stripes.
Contrast colors can be as many of as few as you like, though I encourage using the same CC for the hem, collar, and button band edges.
The Juniper Moon Farm Rambouillet sample uses MC (Cabernet) and 2 contrast colors; the CC colors (Daffodil and Sedona) can be carried up the side by twisting every RS row.
The Green Mountain Spinnery Cotton Comfort sample uses MC (Natural) and 7 contrast colors (stash from previous knits). This yarn, as well as any plant-based fiber, is a great yarn for this pattern; please be sure to make note of your unblocked vs. blocked gauge, so you know how to adjust noted work-to measurements as your finished fabric gauge may change during blocking.
The Queensland Trinity and Kathmandu DK 100 sample uses Trinity for MC (Sandbar) and 2 contrast colors Kathmandu DK 100 (Clover and Sea Glass) and ; the CC colors can be carried up the side by twisting every RS row.
